Ride Smart

Did you see that kid with no helmet flip his ATV backwards, split his head wide open and his brain was half out?

No … neither did we … but now that we have your attention  … read on!

There are a lot of subjects pertaining to motocross but one of the most important things overlooked is the importance of safety gear. Motocross in general is a risky sport. It's surely not like bowling and certainly not golf. It is an extremely physical and challenging sport. It requires full attention at all times and the price you pay for making one mistake can be painful.

If you ride motocross you are going to fall. It's the nature of the game. To get good you have to find your limits and that requires eating dirt. Safety gear is designed to “reduce the risk of injury”. For new riders the following is important. Always put on all your gear before you sit on a bike. That is rule number one. The order of importance is as follows:

Helmet & Goggles - Neck Brace - Boots - Knee Guards or Braces – Chest Protector - Gloves - Kidney Belt - Elbow Pads -  Protective Long Pants - Long Sleeve Jersey

All the above should be used as a minimum for new riders and good protocol for the advanced. The bottom line is to have as much cushion between you and the ground or you and a foot-peg.

Falling is part of this sport. In time many riders will learn the art of how to fall, and many will not. As you go through this process you will need as much help as possible. Broken bones and cuts are no fun!

Why do we care? Because your safety is important to us. In addition, it is most important to the integrity of our sport. The less injuries we have, the less legal hurdles the sport will encounter.

Besides, every time you get hurt - we have to find someone else to roost on the track until you get better.

Be responsible - Set an example - Wear your gear
