Steve was jumping a fairly large step down when his bike locked up. He went over the bars and landed on all fours. His bike rotated upside down in  mid air and landed on top of him. He fractured his hip socket  (acetabulum) and dislocated his femur. His femur was put back in place the same day and he had surgery on his acetabulum 9/15/09. Plates and screws were used to reinforce the fracture. All went well. He should have a full recovery. He will be off his feet for 3 month and should be able to ride in 6 months.

Needless to say this was a very painful injury.
On the "10" pain scale ... it was ranked a 10.

Steve:  Hope you have fast recovery with as little discomfort.  See you soon.

September 8, 2007 - Joe Bruce - riding a CRF450 - Broken Tibia and Fibia

If you don't know Joe you have not been to the track. Joe is a regular MX rider at all the south Florida tracks. Regrettably while racing the Gold cup at Gator back Joe broke 2 bones in his lower leg. A metal rod had to be  inserted into the bone and held in place with 3 screws. Ouch!

All in all Joe is in good spirits. He will be off his feet for about 3-4 weeks and off the bike for 4 months.

We asked Joe what happened and this is what he said. "I was hauling asssssss,  I came in to a corner, which had like 14 ruts. I went one way and the bike went the other. My leg went with the bike. I knew it was broken in mid air. .... I'm selling my bike and getting a 2008 baby!!!! hahaha"

"I was hauling ..........ass!!!"

We asked about the pain. Like a man he said, "I'm almost down to Tylenol"!

Joe we are all wishing you a fast and full recovery. You are a true rebel to the sport. Kick the tires and light the fires!  =)

Hurry up and get well.

Jorel Bermudez , a very good local free style and  motocross  rider, had a terrible crash on Seminole's camel back jump last weekend. He landed face first on his bars as he free floated of his bike on one of Seminoles largest jumps.  Jorel ripped under his eye and tore his nose and lip (all required stitches). He was knocked out for some time.

Jorel we wish you a fast and speedy recovery and thank god that your cut under your eye was not a inch and a half higher. We look forward to your return.

See you soon!!!

David regrettably ruptured his spleen an bruised his kidneys.

I hit it wide open and the berm broke ... the bars dug into my stomach and threw me off the bike. The bike flipped and landed on me. I'm out until the middle or end of June"!

David you are a fantastic rider. Get well soon my friend we miss you on the track!

The above picture was taken about an hour after Steve injured his arm.

Steve over jumped a table top and landed in a corner. It appears that his left hand slipped off the bars. The handle bar went between his upper left ribs and arm. The hot start tour into the soft tissue of his arm located below his arm pit.. Steve Received 8-9 wide stitches from Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

The crazy thing about this injury is Steve's MX Fox shirt never ripped!

11/15/03 - Herby Doan - Riding a CR250 - Pepsi Air Dania

Injured  3 vertebras, no surgery.

For those of you who don’t know Herby Doan, he is an icon of motocross in South Florida. Herby is about 74 years old and has been riding motocross and trails longer that anyone we know. Sadly, Herb had a terrible accident Saturday night. We contacted Herb today (11/17/03). He told us that he is OK; he has a little discomfort, he injured a few vertebras in his lower back. He should be out of the hospital in a few days. He is going to be out of commission for about 6 weeks - so he can heal. He might have to do a bit of therapy, but he looks forward to riding again and was a little disappointed he was going to miss the rest of the series.

We were ecstatic to hear Herby so upbeat after such a bad event. We wish you a fast and full recovery Herb. You are tough as nails and one of the most positive reflections our sport has to offer.
We saw Herby in the stands at the Orlando SX in 2005.
