In Memory of a fallen hero and South Florida MX Team Rider

Hector Monnier (AKA Chueco) No. 43

Updated Dated: 7/15/05 / Picture by: Philip Alford

This, without question, is the most difficult web page we have ever had to create. This page is about a very very special rider by the name of Hector Monnier (AKA Chueco). We met Hector in the year 2000 as he was checking and waiting on the water table at the Homestead MX track to go down so he could ride. From that time till now,  we have ridden with him at the Homestead Motocross Track, Pepsi Air Dania, Immokalee MX, Thunder Cross and The Seminole Tribe MX Park. He was part of the South Florida MX crew and everyone enjoyed Hectors company both on and off the track. For those of you who had the privilege of knowing Hector, you know what we mean when we say ... he brought so much positive energy, values, respect, generosity and love, lots of love, to our world. He was a great friend, a true friend, always willing to go the extra mile for anyone he knew.

Sadly, we were notified this week that Hector Monnier (AKA Chueco) was in a fatal "street" bike accident in South Miami last Wednesday Night (7/6/05). The accident apparently took place were the new bus lanes run parallel to US1. Crossing the bus lanes have been causing lots of problems in the area from what we understand. We cannot express enough how sad we were to hear this news. Hector would have been 54 years old the very next day (7/7/05).

We would like to send our deepest condolences out to his family and relatives.

Hector, my friend, you will be so greatly missed. Your personality and character will always be remembered and shine as a beacon for all of us to follow. I know you will be riding green in the heavens. Keep the wind in your face and a roost behind you.

Note: We were told that friends of Hector should try and make the Saturday Night race at Pepsi Air Dania this weekend (7/16/05). We believe a few words will be said at intermission. As a huge fan of the sport, Hector would have wanted us all to be at the motocross track with him. We hope you will be there.

Anyone wishing to send condolences to his wife Susana, or his children, Hector Jr and Gaby (both in their 20's) the address is: 9018 SW 211 Lane, Miami, FL 33189.

Jeremy McGrath was Hectors all time favorite rider.

He was a Kawasaki two stroke faithful.

At 50+ he won his first series race at Pepsi Air Dania.

He worked out frequently and was in better condition than anyone we knew.

Most easy going, intelligent, respectable, kindhearted, polite, fit, prideful, appreciative, loving individual we have ever encountered.

A big fan of the AMA SX/MX races.

The very first picture page ever created on this site displayed Hector on his KX 125, his number was #43 in the year 2000.  (Pictures - Page 1).
